Anglicisms in online video games in Spanish and in Czech

The objective of our thesis is to describe the topic of anglicisms in the on-line videogames area used by spanish and czech gamers, which are analysed in the practical part. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part includes the definiton of anglicisms, on-line videogames, the issue of anglicisms in this area and also the mechanisms of adaptation in spanish and czech. In the practical part we deal with the analysis of anglicisms from the internet page twitch.com and corpus Araneum Bohemicum Maius and Araneum Hispanicum Maius. After the analysis of every anglicism follows a bilingual glossary and a summary in spanish language.

New German Borrowings in the Czech Language

The aim of the thesis New German Borrowings in the Czech Language is a confirmation of the importance of language contacts in Czech and German. The work demonstrates that acceptance of German lexical units into Czech language is a productive way of enriching its vocabulary. The use of German borrowings in different kinds of utterances and their frequency analysis show that language speakers are starting to see the position of germanisms in Czech in a neutral way, thus not negatively, as was the case in the past. I deal with the analysis of foreign language lexical units from the integral-adaptation, semantic and frequency point of view. The method of my research is targeted excerption of newspapers, where you can see how the new German borrowings are used more and more in contemporary Czech vocabulary. I focus on productivity of use of different borrowed parts of speech. In addition to the various parts of speech I also describe hybrid composites and deproprial expressions. The amount of the new German borrowings, which are collected in neologism exceptions database, demonstrates that acceptance of German words and word formation elements is an important and productive linguistic process of creating of neologisms.

New germanisms in the Czech language

I called my Bachelor's thesis New Germanisms in Czech language. The aim of this thesis is to point out borrowings from German language which have not been integrated to the lexicon of Czech language, and to prove that borrowing from German language is still productive way of enrichment of lexicon nowadays. I deal with the analysis of foreign language lexical units from the integral-adaptive and semantic point of view. I compare newly-adopted lexems with those already recorded in monolingual dictionaries and dictionaries of neologisms. My research is based on aimed excerption of daily press, during which I observe how are neologisms, specifically new germanisms, asserted in the present Czech lexicon. Furthermore, I aim to productivity of using of individual borrowed word classes. The amount of new germanisms integrating to Czech lexicon evidences that borrowing of foreign lexical units is important and productive language process of formation of neologisms.

Latinisms in contemporary German language and their lexicographic treatment in a bilingual dictionary

A role of Latinisms in contemporary German language is the subject of this thesis. The thesis has been elaborated on the basis of findings acquired in the course of drafting dictionary entries within a project focused on development of the German-Czech Academic Dictionary. The role of the Latinisms within the German language vocabulary is analysed on the background of a confrontation of entries included in the monolingual dictionary Duden-Deutsches Universalwörterbuch with a structuralist theory of centre and periphery of language. The analyses, elaborated on the data obtained from the Mannheim German Reference Corpus (DeReKo) and the collocation database (CCDB) developed on the basis of the Corpus, are used for the purpose of the confrontation with the above- mentioned premise of the central or peripheral position of Latin loan words.

Greek as a Source of Enrichment of the Czech Vocabulary

Helena Petáková, Greek as a source of enrichment of the Czech vocabulary Abstract: The Masterʼs thesis examines the influence of the Greek language on the Czech vocabulary from different angles. In the introduction, we define basic terms, which we use in the text, especially "loanword" and with it synonymous "lexical borrowing". Next chapter is devoted to the issues of lexical borrowing in general (motivation, ways of involvement of foreign words in the system of the recipient language, and the sorting options of the loanwords). The third chapter maps borrowing of the Greek words into the Czech language in various periods of development. Furthermore, we are interested in the Czech reception of the Greek language (the admiration of Greek, comparison of Czech with Greek) in the crucial moments of modern history and its connection with national and linguistic defensive trends. After this cultural-historical insight, in the fifth, sixth and seventh chapter we return to the lexical borrowings from Greek. We follow various means by which they entered the Czech language, the way of their involvement in the Czech vocabulary, and finally the semantic and stylistic spheres, in which the Graecisms were most applied in our country. Lexical Gallicisms in Russian Language and Possibilities of Their Use in Teaching Russian as Second and Another Foreign Language

This thesis focuses on lexical Gallicisms in the frame of borrowings from foreign languages to the Russian lexicon. Based on the current state of the art in linguistics and linguodidactics we are assessing lexical Gallicisms in terms of their effective use in Russian didactics as a second or another foreign language. For this reason our work investigates the occurrence of lexical Gallicisms and their forms of presentation as well as their current application within textbooks of Russian language used in primary and secondary schools. We also question to what extent the work with semantic loans is actually reflected within textbooks used in the Czech education system. Our research integrates as well a panel of teachers feed-back on their experience and readiness regarding the possibilities of using semantic loans and internationalisms to broaden students vocabulary. The purpose of the empirical part of the thesis is the verification of the effectiveness of the developed worksheets related to selected subjects covered by textbooks under review that are regarded as representative in terms of lexical Gallicisms. New French loanwords in the Czech language

The aim of the diploma thesis New French loanwords in the Czech language is to prove that in certain fields French is still significant source of enriching Czech vocabulary. As the main research method has been used the excerption of the neological material which is assembled in the electronic database Neomat. The first chapter of theoretical part is devoted to the neology and neologisms. Focus is given to the Czech and foreign approaches as well on how to define and classify neologisms. Next chapter deals with terminological specification of the borrowings, their classification and adaptation- integrating procedures via which are loanwords incorporated into the given language. In the practical part the borrowings are firstly characterized; the characterization is based on the communication field in which the loanwords occur. Than follows alphabetically ordered dictionary that incorporates 182 new French loanwords, it describes their meanings and determine morphological and word class characteristics. The majority of the new Gallicisms the Czech language are nouns and adjectives and they originates from the fields of gastronomy, oenology, art and fashion.
